Collection of nine 41 degree books written and/or designed by Iliazd
One of the most dazzling figures of Russian futurism was Ilya Zdanevich, later known as Iliazd. Zdanevich, his brother, the painter Kirill Zdanevich, and poet and artist friends including Terent'ev and Kruchenykh, formed the dynamic but short-lived 41 group in Tiflis, Georgia. The 41 publications are fascinating in content, design and typography. Published in small editions, they have become rare and sought after publications. The typography in these books, for which Iliazd was responsible, is especially significant in light of the remarkable livres d'artistes he would later design and publish in France with artists such as Picasso, Ernst, Miro and others. The roots of Iliazd's innovative typography can be seen in these early Russian avant-garde editions. Details of this collection available upon request.
