Propeven' o prorosli mirovoi (A sermon chant on universal sprouting).
izd. Mirovyi raztsvet,
Heavy paper wrappers with four relief halftones of Filonov’s drawings, one of them mounted on the front cover. 24 p. 23.5 x 18.5 cm. Edition of 300. This verse drama is written in part in zaum. Khlebnikov considered this book “the best work about the war,” and Susan Compton praises it as “an exceptional example of very high quality printing” (Compton, The world backwards, 37). The book “is structured as a two-part cantata based on the folk song about Ivan the Steward and also on WW I. Using, therefore, both the past and the present as examples, Filonov attemptes to demonstrate that love and life will flower despite war and death” (ex libris 6, 65).
